DMEA RESPONDS

Posted 4/30/2007

DMEA and Tri-State will be evaluating the comments over the next several weeks to determine the line route we plan to pursue with Montrose County and BLM.  We plan to keep affected landowners and interested parties informed of our progress and our plan of action.

To answer your question about determination of the project location, a Siting Study was prepared in 2006 which considered:  land jurisdictions and permitting requirements, existing land uses and planned developments, adopted plans and policies of the City, County, and BLM, existing and planned transportation and utility corridors, topology, landforms, hydrology, visual impacts, biological impacts, and cultural impacts.

To answer your concern about timing of this East Montrose Project, projects are generally constructed no sooner and hopefully no later than they are required to optimize need and cost constraints. We have been working on this project since 2004.
